The Girona Bike Segments Race is a BTT race with a unique format, never seen before.

It is an explosive race with high intensity that will make you give your best possible performance.

It is an individual race so the winner is the racer that completes all segments in as quickly time as possible. That will recognize him as the most completed and polyvalent rider. 
It consists in six timed segments linked some linking segments, combining climbing, descending and rolling segments. 

 

Each segment has a distance between 5 and 7km so there are going to be approximately 70km of timed segments. The race will bedone in two separate loops separated with an intermediate hour of regrouping when riders will be able o stock up and check the mechanics of the bike.

 

In order to speed up the race, riders will take the initial exit in groups of 4 every 15 seconds. And when they arrive at the timed segment, riders will take the exit individually every 30 seconds.

Runners will have also to take care with non-timed segments. Despite not being timed, there will be time limit to reach the next timed segments so riders will have to respect them in order to avoid a penalty of time.

​

Three segments have the exit and the arrival in urban zones so riders will feel supported by spectators.

The link segments will not be marked so it will be necessary to use a GPS device until the next timed segment. Those segments will remain open to public traffic so riders must follow traffic regulations.

The race also includes e-bike and classic bike categories.

​

All segments can be followed online or through the large format screens located in the Village zone.

During the event, spectators will be able to enjoy different thematic activities related with sports, health, gastronomy, kid’s activities, fashion, art, culture, music, experts, media, technology and exhibitions.
